‘House Party’ Podcast: Marie Kondo Accused of Stealing Folding Method; Property Brothers vs. Chip and Jo vs. … The Rock?!

“House Party” is realtor.com’s official podcast about the overlapping worlds of real estate and pop culture, hosted by editors Natalie Way, Erik Gunther, and Rachel Stults. Click the player above to hear our takes on this week’s hot topics.

This week, Marie Kondo—organizing guru and star of Netflix’s “Tidying Up With Marie Kondo”—was accused of stealing her famous method of folding clothes by a woman who calls herself The Beverly Hills Organizer. Is the accusation legitimate or ridiculous? We have strong feelings.

Also, a recent study found that (no shocker here) Chip and Joanna Gaines are still the most popular home design stars and the duo people would most like to hire for a home renovation. But a bunch of random A-list celebrities with zero design experience also made the list, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Gordon Ramsay. Home decor is clearly not their thing, so how on Earth did they make the cut? We get into it all.

Other topics we discuss on this episode include the following:

  • Khloe Kardashian‘s color-coordinated and very organized refrigerator
  • The zany Detroit house that broke the internet but can’t rope in a buyer
  • This week’s batch of celebrity winners and losers

Join us as we lovingly mock some A-list celebs, over-the-top interiors, and each other. Subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Google Play Music, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. And please: Throw us a five-star rating on Apple Podcasts if you like what you hear. The more good ratings and reviews we have, the easier it’ll be for people to find us.
