The Home Style That’s Right for You, According to Your Zodiac Sign

When you think about it, perusing real estate listings is a lot like online dating. We all have a “type” that appeals to us, right? Perhaps you’ve always got your eye on a stately two-story Colonial, or can’t imagine being OK with anything but a historic Victorian. So why bother checking out anything else?

Well, as it turns out, there might be something at play in the universe that’s guiding your preference for a certain style of house: your zodiac sign.

“The signs of the zodiac are telling for what a person finds aesthetically pleasing and their overall style, therefore influencing their type of home,” says Amy Tripp, an astrologer at Starheal Astrology. “For example, some signs are more elaborate and ornamental, while others are more minimalist and simplistic.”

So which home style are you? We consulted the stars and the experts—as well as our listings—to find out. (As for dating, you’re on your own.)

Aries (March 21-April 19): Ranch

The endless energy and fast-paced lifestyle of an Aries is a perfect match for a one-level ranch home, Tripp says.

“This sign needs to be in and out fast. They have no time for stairs or ornamentation,” she says. “They just need somewhere to sleep after an energetic, busy day.”

“An Aries can be clumsy, so a lack of stairs is a good thing,” adds Suzie Kerr Wright, an astrologer and psychic medium at Astrogirl12.com.

And you’ll want to decorate this home in a way that matches your energy. “Ranches look good with bold wall colors that suit this Mars-ruled sign,” Wright says.

Taurus (April 20-May 20): Victorian

A Taurus gravitates toward luxury and likes to invest in something that will grow in value, making a beautiful Victorian perfect for this sign, Wright says.

“All the gorgeous details in Victorians and the status of a historical building would appeal to them,” she says.

Plus, a Taurus won’t be scared off by the renovation it might take to get an older home in this style back to its former glory, says Athena Perrakis, founder and CEO of Sage Goddess.

“A Taurus tends to enjoy restoring homes and getting into the details of historical design,” she says.

Gemini (May 21-June 21): Mid-Century Modern

Geminis will love the flat panels, walls of glass, and open concept of a Mid-Century Modern.

“Their restless nature [needs] to have space to move,” Tripp says. “Plus, lots of glass and natural light allow them to fulfill their curious nature by seeing what’s going on outside.”

Cancer (June 22-July 22): Cape Cod

Wright describes Cancers as very homey, which is why they’ll adore a cute Cape Cod.

“Cancers are patriotic, charming, and strong, so they need a place that works like a shell from the outer world, but is warm and inviting inside,” she says. “Cancers are the ones who take in other people’s kids and are always cooking for people, so the kitchen would have to be spectacular, too.”

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22): Tudor

Powerful Leos are described as “kings of the jungle,” or in this case, kings of their domain. So they would feel right at home in something that looks and feels like a castle, Wright says—like a Tudor. (Bring on the turrets!)

“They love their homes to be showpieces inside and out,” she says, “and a home like this would suit their decorating style, which includes big, comfy furniture, lots of leather, and large ornamental pieces.”

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Bungalow

Virgos are minimalists at heart and don’t like to splurge on expensive living spaces, making a cozy bungalow the perfect fit.

“This detail-oriented sign doesn’t require a lot of space and just prefers their home to be practical, orderly, and organized,” Tripp says.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): French Provincial

If you’re a Libra, there’s a good chance you’re looking for plenty of space to spread out and express your creative side. That’s why a large home straight out of the French countryside could make you feel complete, Perrakis explains.

“Libras also love company, so entertaining spaces with plenty of outdoor seating, and maybe a firepit, would delight them,” she says.

“They’re an air sign and like a lot of fresh air, open floor plans, and symmetrical styles,” echoes Wright, adding that Libras would appreciate the many doors and windows in a French Provincial to balance an indoor/outdoor lifestyle.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): A-frame

A woodsy retreat in a quirky A-frame home is perfect for a lie-low Scorpio, Tripp says.

“Private by nature, these cabin styles—often isolated—fit their mysterious, sometimes loner behavior,” she says.

“They are superprivate when it comes to their personal lives and need a very secluded place to retreat after being out in the world, because of their empathic nature,” Wright chimes in. “Total seclusion is necessary—even if it’s just one room in a house—they’ve got to have it.”

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Townhome

For an on-the-go Sagittarius, a maintenance-free townhome is a ticket to freedom.

“They aren’t big on having a lot of chores, because they are so busy,” Wright explains. “And having neighbors nearby doesn’t bother them, since they’ve never met a stranger they didn’t like.”

“A Sagittarius loves to travel and would be fine knowing someone is able to watch out for their place when they aren’t around,” she adds.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Colonial

Traditionalists at heart, Capricorns will gravitate toward a sturdy, Colonial-style home, Perrakis predicts.

“A Capricorn is proud of their achievements in life, but is very conservative at the same time,” she says. “Homeownership is an important life achievement for them. They prefer a modest home with solid craftsmanship.”

But don’t think going for a Colonial has to mean cookie cutter.

“Capricorns often take part in the design of their home or the building of it, adding their signature fingerprint,” Perrakis says.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): Ultramodern/contemporary

Because an Aquarius loves to stay ahead of new trends, Tripp explains, people with this sign are likely to feel right at home in something sleek and futuristic.

“A contemporary home fits the progressive nature of Aquarius,” she says. “Just like an energy-efficient home made of natural materials, this cutting-edge sign is always on the cusp of what’s new and modern.”

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20): Mediterranean

“The colorful, ornamental details of a Mediterranean work for this highly imaginative and artistic sign,” Tripp says.

Plus, Mediterranean homes often come with beautiful swimming pools—which is perfect, because aquatic-natured Pisces need to be close to water.

But budget buyers, beware: A Pisces may need to purchase a second home to feel complete, Perrakis says.

“Pisces is the sign of watery duality, so they love owning multiple homes,” she says. “Think house by the ocean, plus a rustic cabin in the mountains.”
